Guitarists who learn piano. for those of you who might have started to learn the guitar first then decided (or are deciding) to learn to play the piano, some issues you will likely experience that you should be aware of are given below: the fingering blueprint for the two instruments is different, and causes plenty of confusion.. I only play guitar (although have dabbled with piano), and the only limitations i've really run into is its difficult to play harmonies which has prompted me to get into 2 handed tapping+looping and i haven't been able to motivate myself to learn to read sheet music fluently since it's kind of a goofy medium for guitar.. Learning to play your first song on guitar is a micro-education in itself. it gives you an opportunity to apply the chords you’ve learned to a song you enjoy. you get to learn more about the structure of a song and different techniques to make a piece of music come alive..

I think this article might be better titled “16 reasons why you should play an instrument” as a lot of what you have pointed out here translates to piano and other instruments also. otherwise i couldn’t agree more. i play guitar often and i have never ever played it and then thought “i wish i didn’t do that.” not once!.
