Portable keyboards often have small, thin keys with a light, plastic feel. fortunately, many modern digital pianos offer a more realistic experience with full-sized, weighted keys that feel like a real piano. for those who can only afford a keyboard but plan to eventually play on an acoustic, weighted keys are the way to go.. I believe that every musician should learn to play the piano. and for beginners, buying a keyboard to learn on is a great option because keyboards simulate the sound and feel of an acoustic piano without the size and expense. the best beginner keyboards for learning piano should be playable and portable and have useful features like metronomes. As someone who just recently ( a couple of months back) started to learn piano, here's my thoughts. i started with a cheap, unweighted 61 key keyboard. and it was fine to start with, and good enough to let me learn the basics. but more importantly, it was good enough to let me figure out that i like learning to play..

It is my opinion that you can learn to play on a keyboard. there are some piano instructors who won’t teach you or your child until you have a digital piano. a digital piano is basically just a nicer keyboard that has weighted keys. with this being said, you can now get digital pianos for only about $100 more than a keyboard. if you can swing. If you’re still wondering if you can learn piano on a keyboard, there are keyboards that are designed to be as similar to an acoustic piano as possible. these keyboards are called digital pianos, and the feel and sound of playing these instruments is very similar to that of an acoustic piano..
